Designing Your New Landscape

Your project will start with an in depth interview to learn how you plan to use your yard, how much time and/or money you wish to spend on both construction and maintenance, and any other concerns you may have. Oftentimes during this interview our customers realize they have not really thought out what they are looking for in their landscape and so we figure it out together!

A few examples of problem solving during the interview:

  • You would like to have a sitting area in the corner of your yard but there is a great deal of traffic noise from a nearby street.
  • You would like to have a flower garden but the deer keep eating everything you plant. (Welcome to the club!)
  • Your house was built during the 18th century and you would like to landscape according to the period.
  • You need some retaining walls and steps but you want it to look natural.
  • After the interview, we will set up a time to meet again when you can look over the resulting plans and make any changes of materials, design...etc.

It's much easier to erase a drawing than to move a tree that's already been planted, so we try to figure it out at this stage ;-)

We can meet at a local nursery so you can see the plants and other materials in real life since pictures don't always do them justice, but we can also meet at your house.

Once the plans have been finalized and everyone agrees that no more revisions are needed, we receive a deposit and set a date to begin construction that suits both parties.

    A little about the designer:

Anthony was practically raised at C & C Nursery, a landscape nursery owned by his uncle and administered by his father. He worked steadily at the nursery which started as a small fruit stand and was eventually built up and sold as a thriving wholesale and consumer outlet to Frank's Nursery¨. After this, Anthony continued to work for and learn from master masons and landscapers in the Madison area.

As an independent contractor, Anthony has been desiging landscapes for 18 years using his extensive knowledge of plant material, masonry and grading for solid, safe and longlasting landscapes. He marries function to form culling from his vast artistic education and talents honed at the prestigious School of Visual Arts in New York City, and his love for our natural environment.

    * Most of our projects are designed by Anthony Vitale, but if you would like to use a plan from another designer, we will happily work with that designer and work off of his or her blueprints.
